A modern iteration of the grandeur of renaissance architecture carved out of monolithic marble blocks, this residence was designed to create awe in the visitor. A carefully curated material palette which consists of marble, wood and metal weaves a tale of opulence.Evoking a sense of being so solid, yet so light it floats to defy the gravity – the external facade is a cuboid clad with beige marble; while the external landscape space flows underneath into the house through the central courtyard.

The circulation of spaces in this house has evolved purely out of the activities of its inhabitants. The excavation of unique shape, form and space is created by shifting the building in linear ear and non-linear planes according to activities and zones devoted to them, creating a subtle pattern of light and shadows that appear to be almost three dimensional. Each space in this house is thought of carefully, arranged strategically to provide privacy as well as open-ness – a fluidity of volumes that can be sensed as soon as you enter the house.
